The Heroes of FalgenorHeroes of Falgenor
The nation of Falgenor lies directly to the south of Hathorae, comfortably situated in the hilly and forested midlands of the continent Talirae. Heroes of Falgenor was the opening campaign of Gaia's Dream, and it ran sporadically from 2000-2005 with our dear friends in Jacksonville. It was the first campaign in post-Convergence Gaia, starting in the eventful summer of the year 22CR as Falgenor and the other nations of Talirae were in the midst of recovering from the merging of the faerie and prime material realms. As a point of historical interest, this campaign also featured Gaia's conversion from a heavily houseruled AD&D 2nd edition game into D&D 3rd edition (3.0, and later 3.5).
The campaign followed the rise of a stalwart band of unlikely heroes, who found themselves thrown together by the fates when a strange Darkening effect threw the city of Falgenburg into necrotic chaos. They rose from obscurity to eventually face down a shadowy criminal organization of insane, sentient undead - the necromancers of the Cymos Clan. In the course of their adventures, the heroes learned that they were stronger together than the sum of their parts. Along the way, they befriended a group of stranded Vasx explorers from the continent of Asarya, acquired a permanent base of operations now known as the County of Twin Falls, and made contact with the Unseelie Court of the Gaian Dreamlords, providing the dark faeries with the means to construct a permanent gateway between the remaining un-merged Dreamlands of Gaia and the post-Convergence material plane.
The party's roster included a very eclectic mix of personalities and backgrounds, but through long struggles they freed the city of Falgenburg from the clutches of the necrotic Darkening, forging a path towards safety and security for their adopted homeland, Falgenor. After defeating the mad lich Korelith Cymos in his hidden fortress on the Plane of Shadow and ending the Cymos Clan's dreams of founding a nation of undead atop the ruins of Falgenor, they became lords of the realm and full members of the High Council of Falgenburg. Furthermore, due to their kindness to the Vasx refugees they earned the right to stand in the presence of the great Vasx artificer Khaedoor, where they saw the first glimpse of truth about the nature of the Convergence and the reasons for the changes it wrought upon the realms of Gaia. The campaign logs below predate current campaign procedures of per-session adventure logging; therefore, they are presented in chronological order according to Gaian CR date.
